Homeware Trends for Spring Summer 21 – John Lewis

Scandinavian inspired sideboard display area

Tranquil Sideboard £450, Inky Blue II – Framed Print & Mount £25, Type 2 – Framed Print & Mount £120, Leaf Table Lamp £100, Garden Trading Stratton Indoor Plant Pots, Set of 2 £15, Rattan Stool £125 all John Lewis.

When I started working in magazines (15+ years ago – ssshh!!) the new season launches were always a highlight, and none were more eagerly anticipated than that of John Lewis. Their interpretations of the latest trends have always been spot on. Affordable and accessible style for customers to dip into and select pieces to reimagine the latest looks within their own homes.
I’m a huge fan of high street brands and year after year John Lewis up their game.
With all that’s been happening over the past 12 months a new season drop seems all the more welcome. John Lewis have highlighted three key looks for SS21; Modern Med; Natural Scandinavian and Heritage Revival.

Natural Scandinavian Trend

Sandi inspired living room, Nordic style wood panelling and modern grey sofa.

Rise Sofa in Saga Grey £599, Aztec Indoor/Outdoor Rug £150, Hiko Ceiling Light £175, Bronte by Moon Herringbone Throw £95, Blackout – Hand-Painted Textured Monochrome Abstract Framed Canvas £225, Linen Cushion, Plaster £30, Velvet Cushion Auburn £20, all John Lewis.

Natural materials + Simple shapes + Sculptural furniture = Interiors perfection in my book. Effortlessly cool; soft tones; natural inspirations and a simple minimalist approach feels so comforting with all the chaos of the outside world – the perfect retreat.

Scandinavian Inspired dining room

Trestle Round Dining Table £499, Scandi Dining Chair £299, Harmony Ribbon Semi Flush Ceiling Light £85, Reeded Sideboard £899, Bronte by Moon Herringbone Throw £95, all John Lewis.

Modern Med Trend

Modern Country Style rattan bed dressed with washed linens for casual french chic

Rattan Bed Frame, Double £599, Rattan Bedside Table £199, Washed Cotton Bedspread in Plaster £80, Luxury Velour Throw £65, Washed Cotton Cushion in Plaster £30, Vitra Eames DSW Side Chair, Mustard £390, Velvet Cushion in Olive £20, all John Lewis.

Inspired by slow living in southern France. This look combines the sun bleached shades of soft terracotta, aged plaster and pistachio with layering of natural textures such as rattan, wood and plaster. It offers a “real lived in charm” and has me hankering after a trip across the channel to my little château (that I don’t yet own!).

Heritage Revival Trend

Ecclectic bedroom in ochres and greens

Mid-Century Sweep Upholstered Bed Frame, King Size, Opulence Royal Blue £799, Juliette Wallpaper £40, Canopy Chair in Mustard Velvet £549, Marble Side Table £199, Rio Cushion, Green £50, Cotton Velvet Cushion, Ivy £25, Cushion, Evergreen £60, Gooch Luxury Distressed Kazak Rug £700, Show Wood 4 Drawer Chest, Jade Green £499, all John Lewis

Over the past few seasons we’ve seen a real look toward layering of Morris -esq prints; strong colour and rich woods. For SS21 John Lewis have looked to their archives and are introducing the pallet of Ochre; Mallard Green and Sage, which I love! Often we associate this look with more of an Autumn Winter Trend but the new Juliet wallpaper is a real highlight for me – a bit of a nod to a 1930’s Palm Springs Luxe – which I’m totally onboard with!

Vintage Palm inspired wallpaper creates a feature being an upholstered bed.
